How it’s calculated

TACoS = Amazon ad spend ÷ Total Amazon revenue × 100

ACoS is the campaign-level version: ad spend ÷ ad-attributed revenue.

Worked example

Amazon ad spend
$3,000
Ad-attributed revenue
$12,000
Total Amazon revenue
$40,000
Result
TACoS = 3,000 ÷ 40,000 = 7.5%

ACoS is 25% (3,000 ÷ 12,000), and 70% of revenue came from organic.

What your result means

TACoS shows how much of your total Amazon revenue goes to ads — organic sales included, which ACoS ignores. A low and falling TACoS usually means ads are lifting organic rank (efficient growth); a rising TACoS means you're leaning harder on ads to hold sales. Read it alongside ACoS, not instead of it.

Common mistakes

  • Judging campaigns on TACoS alone — use ACoS for campaign efficiency and TACoS for the whole-account trend.
  • Expecting a universal ‘good’ TACoS — new launches run high on purpose; mature products should trend down.
  • Ignoring organic — a rising TACoS with flat sales means ads are propping up the total.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between ACoS and TACoS?

ACoS is ad spend over ad-attributed revenue (campaign efficiency). TACoS is ad spend over total revenue, organic included — the health of your whole Amazon business.

What is a good TACoS?

It depends on stage. Launches can run 20%+ to build rank; established products often settle around 5–15%. The trend matters more than the absolute number.

Why is my TACoS rising?

Usually because ads are a bigger share of sales — either you scaled spend, or organic softened. Check whether total revenue is actually growing with the spend.
